CONCORD ELC WILL ASSIST YOU IN ADJUSTING TO THE NEW ENVIRONMENT

The Concord ELC Student Services Department is your support system when you are away from home. Our friendly staff will help you with your social and educational needs. Questions about diplomas, certificates, grades, books and other academic records will be answered by our trained and competent counselors and advisors. Concord ELC also recognizes that you

 

are in a different culture and will need assistance and time to adjust to the new environment. With this in mind, our counselors will help your housing needs, transportation questions, insurance applications, driver's license forms and a host of other services that will make your stay here as comfortable as possible. Help on how to get discounted bus and subway passes are available at Concord ELC. In addition, we make all transportation arrangements for school-sponsored field trips. Concord ELC will assist students with their application for: opening a bank account, getting California ID card or Driver's license, health and auto insurance, purchasing automobiles, and any other service that will make their stay in L.A. more comfortable.

Field Trips and Student Activities

Each Session a field trip is organized for the students to go to places of local, cultural and historical interest.

Free Internet Access

All students at Concord ELC can now enjoy free access to the internet with high-speed DSL connection. Computer room is open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

College Admission without TOEFL

Upon completion of Level 6 (the highest advanced Level) at Concord ELC, students may transfer to Glendale Community College, Los Angeles City College, Pasadena City College, Santa Monica College, West Los Angeles College or Los Angeles Trade Tech. College without having to take TOEFL.

School Business Hours

Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed on weekends and holidays.
Students with confirmed housing reservations should report directly to their housing upon arrival (not to the school).

School Registration Information

New students should report to school on Monday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. to take the English placement test.
When you register at school, you will need to bring your passport, I-20 form (F-1 Visa students only), funds to pay tuition and housing (or a receipt showing pre-payment), and the materials contained in your acceptance packet.

Estimated Living Expenses in Los Angeles, California

The cost of housing will depend on the type of housing you select. We estimate that you will need a minimum of $300.00 in personal funds for each four week session to cover miscellaneous expenses such as: bus transportation, personal items, and entertainment.


Climate in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is known for its year-round mild climate and casual atmosphere. Sportswear is appropriate during the summer, and evenings are mild and pleasant. Winter evenings are cool (jackets or sweaters will be required). The average rainfall in Los Angeles is about 20 inches.
